Volleyball team prepares to succeed despite age
September 10, 2014
Much like football, volleyball players have been working hard since last winter.
Varsity volleyball is currently 5-1, sitting at second place in the conference. The team’s only loss was against Northeastern High School, who is currently first place in the conference. The team was 11-6 last year, losing in the state playoffs. Wins over Cape Hatteras (twice), Hertford, and Pasquotank have given the team confidence. Junior Zoe Ballard hopes the team can continue the positive record.
“We have played really well for being such a young team,” Ballard said. “We have nine players total and only one senior (Ashley Beardsley), but we wont let this get in the way of a playoff run.”
Varsity volleyball has 14 games left on the season, 12 conference games and two non-conference games against Manteo. They play Manteo at 4 o’clock today.
