[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he local Kangaroo Express convenience stores made a recent connection with the Dare County School system when Kill Devil Hills store manager David Stover reached out to First Flight High School.
“I am very excited to be partnering with David,” principal Arty Tillett said. “I like how they reached out to us and volunteered.”
Stover, who has been in the area for about three months, said he hopes to form a lasting connection between Kangaroo and the entire district, something he did previously in Wilson (N.C.).
Stover’s first offer to First Flight was to provide Roo Cups for the seniors, winners of the annual spirit competition. The plastic Roo Cups can be used through Sept. 4 at Kangaroo Express Convenience Stores. With the Roo Cup, refills on fountain and frozen drinks are just 25 cents. The Roo Cups normally cost $6.99.
“The kangaroo cup was given out to the class with the most spirit but that is only one of the many things that will be a reward,” Tillett said. “The seniors took home the prize.”
The store also helped with the After-Prom Party by donating several cases of water and numerous prizes.
Said Stover, “We hope to develop a good community relationship, more customers and community involvement, like getting parents involved as well.”
