Lax bros. While some may see the term as a stereotype for a group of guys, the meaning goes deeper for seniors Chase Piotti and Zac Blankenship, who have broadened their friendship on the lacrosse field as they plan to play lacrosse in college.

“We’ve been playing together for five years,” Blankenship said.
Blankenship has verbally committed to the University of Lynchburg, and Piotti to Bridgewater College both Division III schools out of Virginia. The teams are in the same conference, meaning the pair will compete against one another at least once a year.
“It’s a pretty cool feeling, it’s been nice playing together (in high school) for four years and it’s going to be cool to see what it’s like playing against him for another four,” Blankenship said.
Blankenship decided to commit to Lynchburg for several different reasons.
“I have family in the area,” said Blankenship. “I love the coach and it’s just a great atmosphere to play in.”
For Piotti, he realized college lacrosse was a possibility his freshmen year.
“Freshmen year I made a national team and I was the youngest on the team. It was in Durham at Duke University where I tried out for the team,” Piotti said.
Piotti has a couple of people to thank for getting him this far as well.
“I’d like to thank John Van Lunen, my lacrosse coach, for teaching me everything and my parents for taking me to everything,” Piotti said.
The pair signed together on Dec. 4 and took their next step into college lacrosse together.
